What's Next? Alumni Talks on Life after Media Technology

Curious about the career paths of Media Technology MSc alumni? This October session of “What’s Next?” will feature two alumni of the Media Technology program, Daphne Wong-A-Foe and Giulio Barbero, who will share how they got their PhD positions and what their lives look like now.

With the What's Next? series we hope to inspire current Media Technology students, show the variety of paths taken after the studies, and bring together alumni and students. Editions of the series are generally organized around a particular theme. This edition is about pursuing an academic career.

These talks are organised by Media Technology students themselves, and followed by social drinks.

Giulio Barbero graduated from the Media Technology MSc program in 2019. He is currently a PhD candidate and a lecturer of the course "Video Games for Research" at LIACS. His research aims to connect games research with programming and AI education.

Daphne Wong-A-Foe graduated in 2021 from the Media Technology MSc program on a thesis about Jaran Kepang dancing. She is a PhD candidate in Leiden's Cultural Anthropology group, as part of the project "One Among Zeroes |0100|: Towards an Anthropology of Everyday AI in Islam". Her current research explores AI and religious futures in Indonesia.
