Alumni dreams #83
After the BA with a specialization in the Middle East and an exchange at METU (Turkey) in peace and conflict studies Nura Jaafar wanted to contribute to alleviate suffering. So she went for an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's Programme in International Humanitarian Action.
In Groningen and Uppsala Nura specialised in conflict, peacebuilding and religion and met great people with a heart for a better world.
Then she became a policy intern at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Humanitarian Aid department! As part of the Mashreq team (Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Jordan) she could use knowledge from her bachelor and master. Her thesis was on "Fighting Barriers to Increase Access to Education for Syrian Refugee Youth in Jordan".
She volunteered at an asylum seeker centre organising sports and game activities for children and is now very excited for the next career move at SB OverSeas in Lebanon as Project Development and Communications intern.
SB OverSeas works in education, empowerment and emergency aid for Syrian refugees in Lebanon. Very close to her interests, thesis and studies, so she very much looks forward to it!
Way to specialize and build your career Nura!
