Exhibition on Leiden University at The Hague City Hall

This year is the 444th anniversary of Leiden University and we are celebrating this with the residents of the two cities in which the University has a presence: Leiden and The Hague. We are therefore holding an exhibition about the University and its connections to the city in the Atrium of City Hall in The Hague. The exhibition will run from 2 to 21 September.

The exhibition, which will consist of large display panels, will be free to all visitors to City Hall. Anyone coming to renew their passport or apply for a driving licence will be able to get to know the University better. And discover, for instance, that Campus The Hague is 20 years old already and in recent years has rapidly grown to over 5,000 students on 17 bachelor’s and master’s programmes.

Connection with The Hague

The theme of the exhibition is connection. The University is in the middle of society and has close links with the two cities in which it has a presence. Our research and teaching in The Hague therefore focus on themes that are a good match for the city, and we help solve the issues that the city is facing. We therefore share our knowledge as widely as possible, through education for various groups, on advisory boards and in lectures and debates. And our students and staff generally live in the city. One part of the exhibition will be in the Wijnhaven building, which will also make the connection visible.
