Prof Dr John Vandermeer
Michigan University, Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, Ann Arbor, United States
Prof Dr Vandermeer is a Faculty member of the University of Michigan since 1971. He has a long track record of visiting positions all over the world. He has three main scientific interests:
- Nonlinear dynamics, especially as applied to population models. Analytical and theoretical models of coupled predator/prey dynamical systems.
- Ecology of multidimensional agroecological systems focusing on the role of bio-diversity in the functioning of agro-ecosystems.
- Dynamics of biodiversity destruction and conservation focusing on the quality of the matrix within which patches of natural habitat occur. It includes socio-political as well as ecological forces involved in current debates about bio-diversity conservation.
