Prof Dr Consuelo De Moraes
Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Department of Environmental Systems, Zürich, Switzerland
Prof De Moraes earned her B.Sc. from the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (Brazil), then completed a Ph.D. in Entomology at the University of Georgia (USA) in 1998. After a post doc in Florida with the USDA, she became a professor in the Department of Entomology at Penn State University in 2001. In 2014, she moved her program to ETH Zürich (CH) where she was appointed Professor of Bio-communication and Ecology. Prof De Moraes’ research focuses broadly on the role of information transfer via sensory cues and signals in shaping interspecific ecological interactions. Her group explores a broad range of topics, including multi-trophic plant-insect interactions and disease transmission by insect vectors. The overarching goal of this work is to address novel and important questions in basic ecology that also have applied relevance for sustainable agriculture, ecological conservation, and human health
