Nivja de Jong is hoogleraar Tweede Taalverwerving en Didactiek aan de Universiteit Leiden. Ze is werkzaam bij het Centre for Linguistics (LUCL) en het Interfacultair Centrum voor Lerarenopleiding, Onderwijsonderzoek en Nascholing (ICLON). Ze begeleidt MA- en PhD-studenten op uiteenlopende onderwerpen binnen het gebied van het leren en onderwijzen van een tweede taal. Ze is voorzitter van het Language Learning Resource Centre aan de Universiteit Leiden, expertlid van de European Association of Language Testing and Assessment en lid van het Meesterschapsteam Moderne Vreemde Talen.
