Onderzoek naar ruimtelijke cognitie en technologische innovatie
Van der Ham wijdt haar onderzoek aan ruimtelijke cognitie (hoe mensen omgaan met hun ruimtelijke omgeving) en benadert dit zowel vanuit een cognitief-neurowetenschappelijk als een experimenteel-neuropsychologisch perspectief. Ze voert inter- en transdisciplinair onderzoek uit door fundamenteel onderzoek toe te passen in een klinische context en vice versa. Haar onderzoek is gefinancierd door onder andere NWO Veni, Revalidatiefonds, STW Take-off en Wetenschapscommunicatie: Gewaardeerd!
Door technologische vooruitgang wordt virtuele ruimte steeds meer onderdeel van onze ruimtelijke omgeving. Van der Ham onderzoekt hoe virtuele omgevingen worden ervaren door individuen en in vergelijking met de echte wereld.
Haar werk kenmerkt zich door talrijke interdisciplinaire en maatschappelijke samenwerkingsverbanden op uiteenlopende wetenschappelijke en toegepaste gebieden zoals gezondheidszorg, technologie, geesteswetenschappen, onderwijs en kunst. Dit heeft geleid tot theoretische inzichten op het gebied van ruimtelijk denken, evenals klinische toepassingen die gebruikmaken van virtuele omgevingen en serious gaming-technologie.
Kort CV
Ineke van der Ham heeft een achtergrond in klinische psychologie (BSc, Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam), cognitieve neurowetenschappen (MSc, Universiteit Utrecht) en experimentele psychologie (PhD, Universiteit Utrecht, met onderscheiding: cum laude). Ze voltooide haar proefschrift "Thinking left and right, neurocognitive studies on spatial relation processing" in 2010.
Ze werkte als universitair hoofddocent Neuropsychologie aan de Universiteit Utrecht van 2010 tot 2015, waarna ze overstapte naar de Universiteit Leiden. In 2023 werd ze benoemd tot hoogleraar.
Van der Ham is dagelijks bestuurslid en onderwijscoördinator van de sectie Gezondheids-, Medische- en Neuropsychologie, voorzitter van de Master Onderwijscommissie van het Instituut Psychologie en coördinator van de masterspecialisatie Klinische Neuropsychologie.
