What moves an individual, a society or a culture? How does religion relate to politics, economics and morals? Religion is everywhere and often plays, unnoticed, a large role in the daily lives of yourself and others.

Master's programmes
Religious Studies (MA)
The MA Religious Studies at Leiden University is designed to equip students with the tools and knowledge required for studying, interpreting, and analysing religion as a diverse (human) phenomenon. With its world-class scholars and access to exceptional research collections, the programme offers the opportunity to explore a broad spectrum of religions and their manifestations from a comparative, multidisciplinary perspective.

Leraar VHO in Godsdienst en levensbeschouwing (MA)
Teacher training prepares students for a career as a teacher in Dutch secondary education (lower and higher grades). After completing the teacher training programme, you will be awarded a (second) master’s degree and a Dutch teacher qualification in the school subject of your teacher training programme.

Educatieve master Religie en Levensbeschouwing (MA) (120EC)
In this two-year master programme, you will continue to study religion and you will follow teacher training courses including school practice at a secondary school. After completing the master programme, you will be awarded a master’s degree and a Dutch teaching qualification for secondary education (lower and higher grades) for the school subject Religious Studies.
