Dr. Sarah Carthy is assistent-professor in terrorisme en politiek geweld aan het Institute of Security and Global Affairs. Ze is afgestudeerd aan de Universiteit van Galway, waar ze haar BA en PhD in psychologie behaalde. Haar onderzoek richt zich voornamelijk op radicalisering, evidence-based benaderingen van preventie, en het begrijpen van niet-betrokkenheid bij terroristisch geweld. In het kader van haar onderzoeksproject gericht op de preventie en meting van radicalisering, leidt Sarah Carthy een team dat belast is met het verzamelen van empirische gegevens over psychometrische schalen van extremisme en onderwijsinterventies gericht op het voorkomen van radicalisering
