Liesbeth werkt als Universitair Docent bij de afdeling Gezondheids-, Medische en Neuropsychologie. Voordat ze in Leiden kwam werken, werkte Liesbeth als onderzoeker bij het Nivel (2008-2012 & 2015-2018); OLVG (2017-2018); UMC Utrecht (2016); en Kings’ College Londen, Cicely Saunders Institute/Department of Palliative Care & Rehabilitation (2013-2015) en Department of Health Psychology (2012). In 2019-2020 was ze een NIAS-KNAW Fellow. Ze studeerde Psychologie aan de Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam (2003-2008).

Achtergrond
Liesbeth werkt als Universitair Docent bij de afdeling Gezondheids-, Medische en Neuropsychologie. Voordat ze in Leiden kwam werken, werkte Liesbeth als onderzoeker bij het Nivel (2008-2012 & 2015-2018); OLVG (2017-2018); UMC Utrecht (2016); en Kings’ College Londen, Cicely Saunders Institute/Department of Palliative Care & Rehabilitation (2013-2015) en Department of Health Psychology (2012). In 2019-2020 was ze een NIAS-KNAW Fellow. Ze studeerde Psychologie aan de Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam (2003-2008).
Onderzoek
Liesbeth onderzoekt hoe communicatie patiënten kan helpen en schaden als ze geconfronteerd worden met een ernstige, levensbedreigende zieke. Om dit te onderzoeken combineert ze inzichten vanuit de Communicatie & Palliatieve zorg & Placebo en Nocebo effect onderzoek. Ze is geïnteresseerd in de evidentie achter communicatie-elementen; van informatievoorziening tot empathie. Het meeste van haar onderzoek focust zich op de oncologie, maar ze heeft ook ervaring in onder meer neurologie en pediatrische palliatieve zorg. Ze is ervaren in kwantitatieve en kwalitatieve onderzoeksmethoden; van experimenteel video-vignette onderzoek, observationele studies, tot klinische RCTs.
