Onderzoek
Johan Christensen is universitair hoofddocent aan het Instituut voor Bestuurskunde. Zijn onderzoek richt zich op de rol van experts en expertise in bureaucratieën en publieke beleidsvorming, zowel op nationaal als Europees niveau. Zijn eerste boek "The Power of Economists within the State" werd in 2017 gepubliceerd door Stanford University Press, en zijn nieuwste boek "Expertise, Policy-Making and Democracy" verschijnt in het najaar van 2022.
Christensen promoveerde in 2013 in de politieke en sociale wetenschappen aan het Europees Universitair Instituut (EUI) in Florence. Voordat hij bij het instituut kwam, was hij postdoctoraal fellow in sociologie en organisatiekunde aan de Stanford University.
Christensen doceert momenteel cursussen over internationaal openbaar bestuur.
Vanaf 2023 zal hij mede leiding geven aan het internationale onderzoeksproject "INFLUEX: De invloed van deskundigen op het overheidsbeleid".
