Marieke Bos is an associate professor in the unit Developmental and Educational Psychology of the Institute of Psychology at Leiden University.
Research on mental health of adolescents
Marieke's research focuses on understanding neurobiological mechanisms that play a role in the development and maintenance of psychopathology during adolescence and emerging adulthood. For her research, Marieke uses experimental tasks in combination with neurobiological measurements: such as hormones, psychophysiological measures (heart rate, skin conductance, EMG) and imaging techniques (MRI).
Marieke works closely with prof. Dr. Christian Tamnes from Promenta Research Center, Oslo University and dr. Armita Golkar Golkar's Research Lab - Stockholm University from Stockholm University.

Short CV
Marieke studied Clinical Psychology at the University of Amsterdam and worked as a psychologist at FORA (forensic diagnostics) and as a junior researcher at De Waag (ambulatory forensic mental healthcare institution). She then returned to the UvA to complete the Research Master and started her PhD research at the same university examining the plasticity of emotional memories (Supervisors: Prof. Merel Kindt and Prof. Tom Beckers).
After obtaining her PhD, Marieke did her postdoctoral research on the social emotional development of youngsters with autism spectrum disorder (Prof. Carolien Rieffe) and was a senior post-doc at the Brain & Development Research Center (Prof. Eveline Crone), studying the relationship between structural brain development and psychopathology in adolescents.
