Funmi Bamidele researches the experiences of loneliness among autistic students in high schools during their informal time at school and examines how environmental factors either enhance or diminish these feelings. Previously, she obtained her research master’s degree in development and socialization in childhood and adolescence at Utrecht University, Netherlands and a master’s degree in developmental psychology at the University of Lagos, Nigeria.  Her research is embedded in the multidisciplinary research project 'Building 4 belonging' as part of the NWO-funded 'loneliness' project.
