Practical Information
Here you will find practical information related to the RAI68.
Venue
All sessions will take place on the Humanities Campus of Leiden University, Lipsius building, Cleveringaplaats 1, 2311 BD Leiden (see the map below).
Hotels
Participants are strongly advised to book a hotel room early. Leiden now boasts many more hotels, hostels, B&B’s and camping sites than it did in the past, but the summer holiday is still a busy season. The city of The Hague is located at a 10-minute trainride distance.

On-site childcare facilities are available for children aged 10 weeks–12 years (c. € 55 per day per child). Please contact us via e-mail before 1 April 2023 if you want to make use of these facilities, as these services depend on the number of subscriptions.
Lunch and drinks
There are may cafés near the venue where you can enjoy lunch and drinks, e.g. the Hortus Café in the Botanical Gardens of Leiden University, Het Pakhuis in the Doelensteeg, Tabú on the waterside of Rembrandtstraat. On the canal Rapenburg you will find Barrera, l’Espérance and De Keyser. On the way to the city centre, you will find ’t Koffiehuisje on het Gerecht. In the centre of town, along and around the Nieuwe Rijn, there are numerous more options.
Summer of conferences
In addition to the RAI68, Leiden University hosts two more international conferences in the summer of 2023 that may be of interest of you. The 13th International Conference of Egyptology takes place from 6 to 11 August and the 10th European Conference of Iranian Studies takes place from 21 to 25 August.
