During my bachelor’s programme in Biology, I pursued a minor in sustainability, which is very similar to Science for Sustainable Societies. The courses I took were incredibly interesting, and I’m very happy with my choice for that minor. The combination of natural sciences, social sciences, and governance taught me a lot. Previously, I didn’t really focus on the human factor in climate change and other sustainability issues—during the Biology bachelor I only looked at the natural science side. In Science for Sustainable Societies, you get a very broad perspective, building a foundation in all those disciplines. This allows you to act as a bridge between experts from different backgrounds. Already, you can see there’s a lot of demand for people with that kind of expertise in the job market.

During my bachelor's in International Studies, I already took several elective courses on sustainability. I found this topic so interesting that I decided to pursue a minor in sustainability. The content of that minor is very similar to that of the bachelor's programme in Science for Sustainable Societies. I gained so much new knowledge there, the minor was enormously interesting. I didn’t have a natural science background when I started, but that wasn’t an issue. I always enjoyed physics and chemistry in high school, but I didn’t take final exams in those subjects. Thanks to the excellent guidance from the teachers, I was able to manage the natural science courses in the minor just fine. It was challenging at times, but also very engaging.
