CompaRe is headed by Dr Armin Cuyvers, and is built around a team of key staff from different faculties and institutes. In addition, CompaRe has affiliate members from academic institutions and organisations around the world.

Veronica Behlok Student assistant Veronica Behlok is an LLM candidate in European and International Business Law at Leiden University. She is a lawyer with an LLB degree from Externado University (Bogotá, Colombia), who interned at Brigard Urrutia (Bogotá) and worked as a legal counsel for Deloitte Colombia, specialising in international trade, customs, financial and investment law.
Richard Grau Student assistant Richard Grau is a master’s student at Leiden University, where he studies European Law. Richard studied law at Humboldt-Universität in Berlin (Germany) until 2022 and obtained his law degree and the ‘Erste Juristische Staatsprüfung’ in September 2021. As part of his studies he also spent one year at LUISS Guido Carli University (Italy) in 2018/19 where he focused on European and International law. He interned at Irwin Mitchell Solicitors in London and ROLEMA law firm in Berlin.
Sabine Kneepkens Student assistant Sabine Kneepkens is an LLM candidate in European Law at Leiden University. Sabine obtained her LLB in European Law from Maastricht University with a Minor in Business and Law. She was previously a student assistant at the Public Law department of Maastricht University in the field of Administrative Law. In Maastricht, Sabine additionally held a position on the editorial board of the ELSA Maastricht Law Review.
Natália Racková Student assistant Natália Racková is an LLM candidate in European Law at Leiden University. Natália holds an LLB in European Law from Maastricht University in the Netherlands (2022). Natália has previous experience as, inter alia, an Intern at the Permanent Representation of Slovakia to the European Union in Brussels and a Research Intern at the European Institute of Public Administration in Maastricht. In her final year at Maastricht University, Natália acted as a Trainee at the Maastricht Centre for European Law and was a Visiting Student at the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom.
Malin Schibler Student assistant Prior to joining CompaRe and pursuing a Masters of European Law (LLM) at Leiden University, Malin Schibler majored in Law in the multidisciplinary Bachelor of Science in Politics, Psychology, Law, and Economics (Bsc. PPLE) at the University of Amsterdam. Malin’s bachelor’s thesis was awarded second place for the Edgar Du Perron Prize for her legal-economic analysis of South Africa's competition regime under a gender-sensitive lens. This topic is also closely connected to her prior experience of working in management for international software companies for the past eight years and has created a strong basis for her current research interests. Namely, the intersection between data regulation, privacy and exploitation, under the auspices of digital governance and data sovereignty. Overall, Malin seeks to comparatively evaluate the legal-norm setting that underpins data governance in regional organisations, coupled with the effects of ROs prioritising privacy and data regulation frameworks to incite greater digital and economic integration.
Beatriz Tokars Student assistant Beatriz is an LLM candidate in European and International Business Law at Leiden University. Beatriz holds a bachelor’s degree from the Federal University of Paraná, Brazil, where she coordinated the Research Group in Applied Business Law. From 2020 to 2021, she studied at Université Grenoble-Alpes, with a focus on International Business and Economic Law. Beatriz interned at two law firms, as well as in the Brazilian Institute on Civil Procedural Law.
Irem Turgut Student assistant Irem Turgut is an Advanced Master of Law candidate specialising in European and International Business Law at Leiden University. Irem earned her LLB and double major in Law and Psychology from Koç University (Turkiye), graduating with honors in 2021 and held several assistantships. After several internships at international law firms, she worked at Baker McKenzie on various aspects of competition law.
Abraham Velarde Student assistant Abraham Velarde is an LLM candidate in European Law at Leiden University and Ramon Areces Foundation postgraduate fellow. Abraham studied a double bachelor’s in Law and Political Sciences and Public Administration at University of Salamanca (Spain). He also was a scholar of the School of Leadership of Francisco de Vitoria University (Madrid, Spain). He interned at the Procedural Law Department of University of Salamanca, where he carried out research about Artificial Intelligence and Law. He has published some articles about the legal considerations of Blockchain as of evidentiary effectiveness. One of his main fields of interest is international law which led him to work on the role of the High Representative of the European Union in the development of the Common Security and Defence Policy as well as the diplomatic relations between Spain and Morocco as his final projects.
