Jacky Nieuwboer has been a lecturer in Financial Law at the Institute of Financial Law since 1 February 2021. Having studied English language and literature between 1975 and 1980, she graduated from Leiden University with a (part-time) degree in financial law in 1988.

After completing her studies, Nieuwboer worked as a lecturer in English and law and as a legislative lawyer and policymaker at the Dutch Ministry of Finance. She also worked as a lawyer for various institutions dealing with human rights, including the Netherlands Institute for Human Rights.

More recently, Nieuwboer's activities have focused on international education at a university for applied sciences (International Business Law). She currently reports to the Fundamental Rights Agency in Vienna on the impact of the EU Charter in the Netherlands. She is also preparing to write a book on deposit protection.
