Education
The bachelor's programme in Psychology in Leiden covers the full breadth of psychology. Our bachelor's students have the opportunity to specialise. Our master's students prepare themselves for a career as a ‘scientist - practitioner'. In the one year master's programme the emphasis is on practise; in the two year research master's programme on science.
Bachelor's programmes in Psychology
In a 3-year programme, taught in English or in Dutch (two versions) students acquire knowledge, understanding and skills in an international context. In the second and third year they choose courses by themselves.

Psychology takes part in two interdisciplinairy minors:

Exchange programme
Bachelor's students are allowed to study abroad half a year at one of the partner universities, inside or outside Europe.

Honours programme
Leiden University offers extracurriculair opportunities for bachelor's students whose performance is excellent and whose abilities and wishes go beyond the standard programmes. For students who do not want to follow an entire 30 EC Honours College programme, the Honours Classes can be an opportunity.

Pre-master’s programme
Leiden offers a one-year pre-master’s programme in Psychology, taught only in Dutch. It may suit students with a university bachelor’s degree that is not in Psychology, or a Dutch higher professional education (HBO) degree.

MSc in Psychology
The master's programme in Psychology is a one-year programme. It focuses both on in-depth study of theory and on the acquisistion of professional and research skills.

MSc in Psychology (research)
The master's programme in Psychology (research) is a two-year programme that is focused on acquiring research skills in a particular field of psychology. The programme provides students with a rigorous training in the methodological and practical skills necessary to carry out scientific research on human behaviour.
