Evaluation of the Dutch Youth Act
This research evaluates the Youth Act. It will provide an overview of how the transition takes place, whether the transformation process develops in the right direction and whether the legal safeguards are functioning properly.

On 1 January 2015 the Dutch Youth Act came into force. Since then the municipalities are responsibility for youth care. Before 1 January 2018 the Dutch States General should be informed concerning the effectiveness and effects of the act. Netherlands institute for health services research (NIVEL), the Netherlands Institute for Social Research, the Netherlands Youth Institute, Stichting Alexander and the Child law department of Leiden University will evaluate the Youth Act, commissioned by ZonMw. In October 2017 the results will be presented.
Relation to other projects
Currently, researchers of Leiden University are also evaluating the Dutch Act on the Children’s Ombudsman.
