Business Studies
The Department of Business Studies focuses on research questions at the intersection of law and behaviour in the context of organizations and enterprises. The department brings together specialists in entrepreneurship, organizational psychology, marketing, strategy, economics, and finance.
Business Studies is a broad field of study. The department emphasizes theory-driven empirical research rooted in the behavioural sciences and that has a strong international orientation. With our substantive knowledge and expertise, we contribute to the interdisciplinary nature of research at the Leiden Law Faculty. Additionally, because of the extensive methodological expertise of our staff, we also make a significant contribution to the increasingly conducted empirical-legal research at the faculty.
Our department provides undergraduate education for the ambitious and entrepreneurial students at Leiden. Through our diverse curriculum, we impart business scientific knowledge and management skills to (law) students, contributing to their interdisciplinary understanding and empirical literacy.
The Leiden Law School Centre for Legal Entrepreneurship and Innovation, which is part of the department, specifically focuses on promoting entrepreneurship and innovation in legal practice.
