Seminar: Trans-Local Collaboration for Good Governance
A delegation of The Mayor’s Club in Ukraine made a three-day visit to the Netherlands, 24-26 April, where one of their priorities was to explore questions of good governance and how it can be advanced through ‘Local-to-Local Co-Creation’ between interested municipalities in Ukraine and the Netherlands. With this purpose in view, GTGC was happy to host a seminar for the representatives, as well as for Leiden University staff and students on 24 April.
Programme
- 15:00 - 15:15: reception with coffee and tea.
- 15:15 - 15:30: words of welcome from University, Government, and Mayors’ Club representatives.
- 15:30 - 15:45: presentation by Prof. Jan Aart Scholte (Leiden University) on translocal networks in world politics.
- 15:45 - 16:15: presentation by Jesper Rytter Hansen (Mentorix) on professional certification for good governance.
- 16:15 - 16:30: presentation by Prof. Antoaneta Dimitrova (Leiden University) on reform of local governance in Ukraine.
- 16:30 - 17:00: Q&A and discussion moderated by Bijay Dhungana (Windle International).
Outcomes
The Delegation of Ukrainian Mayors and Business Directors, as well as interested academic staff and students, obtained enhanced awareness of the links between good governance, best practices, and professional certification in the context of ‘Local-to-Local Co-Creation’ collaboration initiatives.
