The research specialisation is considered to be the default specialisation. Hence, students will only be admitted to the master on the research specialisation. Students following the research specialisation continue their research training in the second year. Students opting for a non-research specialisation will be admitted after the successful completion of their first year of the master programme.
Every master student of Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences has to start with a Research Project of 9 months (RP1) within the LACDR (our research institute). On the website of the LACDR you can find information on the various research themes that are offered by our research divisions. Since the start of RP1 is only in September and not in February, we highly recommend you to start the master programme in September.
BFW students who want to start the master BPS in the academic year 2025-2026 (September admission), please enroll in studielink and fill out this RP1 pre-registration form between May 14 and June 14 (18:00h), 2025. This form is a pre-registration. This procedure is also applicable to students who have completed the bachelor in past years.
All other students: Enrol in Studielink for the research specialisation. A day later you will receive log-in details for Leiden University’s application system (uSis), where you can complete your application. In case you are admissible, the admission committee of the master programme will pre-match you with a suitable Research Project.
All students: During the first week of September, you are required to attend information sessions of principal investigators of the LACDR, after which you can adjust your preference. Based on the information you provide, the education office of the master BPS will match you with a suitable RP1 spot in the second week of September.
