Urban Studies (BA)
Continuing your studies
If you want to continue in Urban Studies, the next step after obtaining your bachelor’s is a master’s degree (MA) at a Dutch or international university. And there may be no better place for your further master’s study than Leiden University!
Choosing a master’s programme
If you decide to continue your academic education with a master’s programme, you will find that graduates from the Urban Studies bachelor’s programme are generally admissible to many master’s programmes in the field of humanities, law or social sciences.
- All Urban Studies graduates will be automatically admitted to the follow-on MA History: Cities, Migration and Global Interdependence at Leiden University. Depending on the electives you choose within the BA Urban Studies, you can also follow the MSc. Industrial Ecology, MSc. Governance of Sustainability or MSc Law and Society.
- Additionally, you will also be able to opt for a master in for instance criminology, psychology, public administration or pedagogy. For these programmes you will first need to do a pre-master or minor in this field.
- If you want to continue your studies at another Dutch university, there are options as well, for example the Research Master’s Urban Studies at the University of Amsterdam or Urban Governance at Erasmus University Rotterdam.
- Our Urban Studies bachelor’s will also qualify you for several international master’s programmes such as Urban Studies at University College London, United Kingdom, or Nordic Urban Planning Studies at Roskilde University, Denmark.
