Student life
Study Association Labyrint
We make a distinction between student associations, which are for students from all departments and institutes at Leiden University. Study associations are for students from a particular institute.
Study association of Psychology Labyrint
The Institute of Psychology has a large active study association called Labyrint. Members of Labyrint can buy their books and summaries with a discount and attend tutoring courses for statistics. Moreover, Labyrint organises a great variety of activities during which you can broaden your view on Psychology and get to know fellow students. Examples of activities are an introduction weekend for first-year students, excursions, congresses, parties and trips. Become a member.
Psychology student organisation
Students can also attend events that are organised by the SPS-NIP, the student organisation of the Dutch association of psychologists.
Leiden University supports you
Going to university brings many changes to your life. We offer you intensive, personal supervision in order to help you to successfully complete the programme within the time limits set for it.
- In the first year at the Faculty you will be placed in a tutor group of twelve students. Your tutor is the first person to go to if you have any questions or when you need help planning and organising your courses. In addition, you can always contact the Study Adviser for advice and support.
- In your first year your study progress will be assessed. The assessment is based on the final requirements of the programme that provide a good indication of whether you will be able to successfully complete the programme within the designated period of time. You are allowed to proceed with the programme if you have completed 45 of the 60 credits, including one of the statistics courses by the end of the first year. In the second year our team continues to monitor your study progress and help you plan your degree programme.
- Before the academic years starts, you can participate in the introduction weeks. The introduction will help you to settle into Leiden and the university life. Also, in the first week of the academic year you will attend special sessions to learn about the tools and support available to you.
POPcorner offers you assistance!
The students and employees of the POPcorner can also support you during your academic years. Need help with study planning, academic reasoning or writing papers? The POPcorner offers workshops and courses, social activities and individual help throughout the year. They work in cooperation with your Study Adviser.
