Dutch Studies (BA)
One-year programme
Possibly spending three years at university and following the entire Dutch Studies programme is not an option for you. In that case, we are pleased to offer you an alternative. We have created a challenging and highly valuable one-year programme, where you will still learn to speak Dutch and delve into Dutch culture. This programme is less comprehensive, and allows you to combine to combine language proficiency modules from the first or second year with other courses such as Art History and Dutch Debates.
Diploma with access to BA programmes in Dutch
On successful completion of all first-year modules, you will receive a foundation diploma, also called a ‘propaedeutic diploma’. A propaedeutic diploma in Dutch Studies will grant you access to most BA programmes taught in Dutch.
Level of proficiency
In order to determine which language proficiency classes best fit your level, you will be asked to participate in intake tests. These will take place during the week preceding the start of classes. If you do not yet speak any Dutch, you are not required to take these tests, and you will automatically be assigned to the first year.
