Compulsory matching
BSc Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology is a bachelor’s programme with a compulsory matching module.
As part of the process of joining our bachelor’s programme, you are required to complete our online matching module. This is to make sure that this programme matches your expectations, interests and capabilities. Matching is a compulsory part of your admission and application procedure.

Via this online matching module you will familiarise yourself with the course materials and the methodology that are typical for this programme. Once you have completed the matching module, you will receive feedback about how well this programme matches your interests and capabilities.

Content
The module consists of online lectures on four subjects: sustainability, diversity, digitalisation and methodology. After you have watched the online lectures, you will be asked to read two articles and complete the corresponding assignments and matching questions.
In addition to the online lectures, we have also added chapters about what it's like to study at our institute, the student city of Leiden and the career choices of five of our alumni.
The online matching module helps you to find out whether studying the bachelor’s programme Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology at Leiden University is a good choice for you.
When
Once you have applied for Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology (before 1 May) and your application has been successfully received by Leiden University, you will receive an invitation to participate in the matching module, as well as information to create an account. After this, you can start the matching module.
Please note that the matching period starts in February 2024. As of February invitations for the matching module will be sent.
The module must be completed as early as possible and before 1 September 2024 at the latest. Note that this is done next to the admission procedure. Only if you have completed the matching activity and are unconditionally admitted to the programme, we can finalise your registration for Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology.
