About the project
This Erasmus+ ICM project focuses on how environmental humanities can provide a lens to understand the impact of climate change, notably in Bhutan. It expands on existing research-oriented cooperation between Leiden University and Royal Thimphu College (RTC). The project contributes to the growing need for ethnography-based climate-related scholarship in the South Asian region.
Co-creating knowledge to engage indigenous lived experiences with respect to sustainability is essential for an understanding of the impact of global climate change. At RTC, this collaboration is led by the Himalayan Centre for Environmental Humanities (HCEH - Dr. Jelle Wouters), and at Leiden University by the Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology (CADS - Dr. Erik de Maaker).
