On February 7, 2025, a multi-year exhibition on the history and future of life on planet Earth will open in the Hortus botanicus Leiden. In Plants & Planets, visitors will travel through time and space. The exhibition opens as part of the celebration of the 450th anniversary of Leiden University.
Travel through time and space
In Plants & Planets you will travel through time and space: from the Big Bang to the year 2125 and beyond. Marvel at what science, art and nature can tell you about the development of life on planet Earth. Discover biology and astronomy: from pollen to stardust, from plants to planets!
The exhibition is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 11:00 to 16:00. Access is included with a Hortus ticket. The exhibition has an extensive activity program with workshops, lectures, stargazing evenings and guided tours of the domes of the Old Observatory. For children there are special children's drawers and workshops.
