A multi-year exhibition on the history and future of life on planet Earth will open in the Hortus botanicus Leiden on 7 February 2025. The exhibition will be part of Leiden University’s 450th anniversary celebrations.

Travel through time and space

Plants & Planets takes you on a journey through time and space: from the Big Bang to the year 2125 and beyond. Marvel at what science, art and nature can tell you about the development of life on planet Earth. Discover biology and astronomy: from pollen to stardust and from plants to planets!

The exhibition is open from Wednesday to Sunday, 11:00 to 16:00 hrs. Access is included with a Hortus ticket. The exhibition has an extensive programme of activities including workshops, lectures, stargazing evenings and guided tours of the Old Observatory domes. There are special workshops and activities for children.
