This Panel at the Historians of Netherlandish Art Conference (Amsterdam, 2-5 June 2021) aims to explore how early modern individuals and groups branded themselves through their heraldic presentation on contemporary social media and materials. Although this call for papers focuses on the period 1500-1800, the panel host also welcomes proposals exploring the transition between the Late Middle Ages and Early Modern Period.

This international workshop seeks to bring together an international and interdisciplinary group of scholars to work on the interrelated aspects of ancient and early medieval walls in the Mediterranean and northwestern Europe throughout the first millennium CE. The keynote address will be given by Hendrik Dey, and confirmed speakers include Rachele Dubbini, Penelope Goodman and Nicholas Purcell.
