On February 1, Utrecht University organizes an international workshop on good governance in the late medieval city (1200-1600).
This Spring School will pay attention to a wide range of performances in history, from political gatherings, religious rituals, and courtroom proceedings to theatre, concerts, and dance. It combines a focus on the medieval and early modern period with an interdisciplinary perspective, attending to the theoretical background of performance studies, its related concepts, and its more practical sides. Moreover, the Spring School will enable speakers and participants to reflect on new methodological approaches, including digital humanities, the intertwinement of arts and science, and research through performance.

Prof. Louise D’Arcens (Macquarie University, Sydney) geeft op 11 januari 2023 een workshop over ‘Transhistorical Emotions and Medievalism’ aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. D’Arcens, verbonden aan het Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the History of Emotions, bestudeert welke emoties te pas komen aan onze omgang met het middeleeuwse verleden. De bestudering van deze ‘transhistorische emoties’ staan centraal in deze workshop.
On 17-20 October 2023, the ERC-funded project PASSIM (Patristic Sermons in the Middle Ages), based at Radboud University Nijmegen, will organise an international conference on the medieval reception and transmission of patristic sermons and the collections in which they are compiled. The conference will take place at the Royal Netherlands nstitute in Rome (KNIR). Proposals for papers are accepted until 15 January 2023.
