The ALGANT consortium offers a 3-year PhD program and a two-year master program in pure mathematics, with a strong emphasis on Algebra, Geometry and Number Theory. It has been offered since September 2005, and it involves the partner universities of Bordeaux (France), Chennai (India), Concordia (Montréal, Canada), Duisburg-Essen (Germany), Milano (Italy), Padova (Italy), Paris-Sud (France), Regensburg (Germany) and Stellenbosch (South Africa). ALGANT started as a European program under Erasmus Mundus and is now an independant international program. Both PhD and master students study and graduate at 2 partner universities from different countries.
Leiden University is the coordinating institution of the ALGANT master program.
