Alexander P. Gultyaev (Goultiaev) is een computationeel bioloog. Hij werkt aan bio-informatica onderzoeksprojecten. Zijn voornaamste interesses zijn structuren, functies en evolutie van RNA moleculen. In het bijzonder werkt hij aan voorspellingen van functioneel belangrijke RNA-structuren in RNA-virussen. Deze theoretische modellen worden getest in experimenten uitgevoerd door virologen; naast zijn werk bij LIACS heeft Alexander Gultyaev een aanstelling bij de afdeling Virowetenschap van het Erasmus Medisch Centrum in Rotterdam.
