Roos van der Haer is senior universitair docent internationale relaties aan het Instituut Politieke Wetenschap van de Universiteit Leiden.
Haar onderzoek richt zich op de oorzaken en gevolgen van het gebruik van kindsoldaten in burgeroorlogen, de rekruteringsstrategieën van rebellengroeperingen, de psychologische gevolgen van burgeroorlogen, kwantitatief onderzoek in conflictgebieden, en het onderzoeken van de oorzaken en gevolgen van bewapende conflicten op het individuele niveau. Haar werk is onder andere gepubliceerd in het Journal of Peace Research, Journal of European International Relations, Conflict Management and Peace Science, Aggressive Behavior, Third World Quarterly, Comparative Political Studies en Survey Methodology. Ze heeft veldonderzoek gedaan in de DRC, Mali, Namibië, Rwanda, Tanzania, en Oeganda.
Roos studeerde politieke wetenschappen aan de Universiteit van Leiden en aan de Universiteit van Manchester en promoveerde in 2012 aan de Universiteit van Konstanz (Duitsland).
