Dr. Nikki Ikani is universitair docent inlichtingen en veiligheid. Haar onderzoek richt zich op Europese veiligheid en het Europees buitenlandbeleid, evenals op waarschuwings- en anticipatieprocessen van internationale crises. Haar onderzoek is interdisciplinair en verbindt de internationale betrekkingen, bestuurskunde en inlichtingenstudies. In 2023 kreeg Nikki de NWO Veni-beurs toegewezen voor haar onderzoeksproject 'From Alert to Action: the difficult journey of warnings in international politics'. Nikki Ikani zit in de faculteitsraad van FGGA en is coordinator van de minor in Intelligence studies. Ook is zij Research Fellow aan de afdeling War Studies van King's College London.

Dr. Nikki Ikani is universitair docent inlichtingen en veiligheid. Haar onderzoek richt zich op Europese veiligheid, en op de processen van waarschuwing en anticipatie van internationale crises. Haar onderzoek is interdisciplinair en verbindt de internationale betrekkingen, bestuurskunde en inlichtingenstudies.
Nikki Ikani’s artikelen verschenen in onder andere de Journal of European Integration, Geopolitics, Intelligence and National Security, en European Security. Daarnaast is zij auteur van Crisis and Change in European Union Foreign Policy (Manchester University Press, 2021) en co-editor van Estimative Intelligence in European Foreign Policymaking (Edinburgh University Press, 2022).
In 2023 kreeg Nikki de NWO Veni-beurs toegewezen voor haar onderzoeksproject From Alert to Action: the difficult journey of warnings in international politics. Dit onderzoek beoogt te onderzoeken hoe 'strategische waarschuwingen' over internationale crises reizen door de EU en de NAVO, en wat dit proces zo moeilijk maakt. Verder publiceert Nikki haar onderzoeksbevindingen in Nederlandse en internationale media, waaronder NRC, de EU Observer en Radio France Internationale.
Nikki Ikani is de coördinator van de minor Intelligence Studies. Ook is zij coördinator van de European Strategic Dialogue, en serie lezingen over de het veiligheids- en defensiebeleid van Nederland, Duitsland, Frankrijk en de Europese Unie. Ook is zij lid van de faculteitsraad van FGGA, managing editor bij het literaire tijdschrift Poets Reading the News en Research Fellow aan het department War Studies van King’s College London.
Hiervoor was Nikki Ikani PhD en postdoctoraal onderzoeker aan King’s College Londen.
