Kate Bellamy is postdoctoraal onderzoeker bij het Centre for Linguistics. Haar onderzoek richt zich op P'urhepecha, een taalisolaat gesproken in Michoacán, Mexico. Ze is met name geïnteresseerd in de lexicale semantiek en morfologische samenstelling van deze taal, en in hoe deze taal wordt gebruikt - en varieert - in taalcontactsituaties. Van 2023-2026 werkt ze aan het door NWO gefinancierde Veni-project "Language Variation at home and abroad: the case of P'urhepecha in Mexico and its US diaspora". Daarnaast doet ze onderzoek naar code-switching en grammaticaal gender in meervoudige taalcombinaties.
