Frank de Zwart is universitair docent (UD) vergelijkende politiek en beleidsanalyse. Hij studeerde politieke antropologie aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam en promoveerde op een proefschrift over politieke corruptie en patronage in India. De Zwart was wetenschappelijk medewerker aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam, en universitair docent in het departement Bestuurskunde aan de Universiteit van Leiden.
Zijn onderzoeksinteresses liggen op het gebied van politiek in India, staatsformatie, corruptie, en etnische diversiteit. Zijn huidige onderzoek, getiteld States and Ethnic Groups, is een vergelijkende studie naar politiek en beleid rond (on)gelijkheid en etnische diversiteit.
