Ellis Aizenberg is universitair docent en houdt zich bezig met belangenvertegenwoordiging, lobbyen, politieke attitudes en waargenomen legitimiteit. Ze is geïnteresseerd in de rol die belangenorganisaties spelen in democratische systemen en het vermogen dat ze hebben om dergelijke systemen te laten bloeien.
Voor haar onderzoek gebruikt Ellis Aizenberg verschillende kwantitatieve methoden zoals experimenten, computationele benaderingen en enquêtes, maar ook kwalitatieve methoden zoals interviews en focusgroepen.
In verschillende projecten met promovendi bestudeert ze momenteel het representatieve potentieel van belangenorganisaties en hoe belangenvertegenwoordiging werkt in tijden van polarisatie. Het eerstgenoemde project maakt deel uit van haar startersbeurs over belangenvertegenwoordiging en politieke attitudes.
