Ard Barends werkt sinds augustus 2021 als universitair docent criminologie bij het Instituut voor Strafrecht & Criminologie.
Onderzoek
Het onderzoek van Ard richt zich op de rol van de persoonlijkheidstrek integriteit op prosociaal en antisociaal gedrag. Daarnaast richt zijn onderzoek op het ontwikkelen van innovatieve nieuwe methoden om integriteit te meten, zo ontwikkelde en valideerde hij voor zijn promotieonderzoek aan de Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam een computerspel om integriteit mee te meten.
Onderwijs
Ard geeft onderwijs in het bachelor programma van de opleiding Criminologie, hij is als docent en
coördinator betrokken bij het vak onderzoeksvaardigheden in de criminologie (BA3). Bovendien is hij als docent betrokken bij de vakken ontstaan en ontwikkeling van crimineel gedrag (BA3), en practicum verklarende criminologie (BA2). Daarnaast begeleidt Ard studenten bij hun bachelor en masterscripties.
