Anne Urai is een cognitieve neurowetenschapper. Haar onderzoek richt zich op de verwerking van sensorische informatie tot beslissingen in het brein, en verschillende factoren die zulke beslissingen beïnvloeden zoals leerprocessen en veroudering.
In haar onderzoek combineert ze psychophysica en gedragsmodellen met neurofysiologie in mensen en muizen. Urai is actief in de open science community, en zet zich in voor teamwerk in de wetenschap.

Anne Urai studeerde cognitieve neurowetenschapper en filosofie aan het University College Utrecht, Xiamen University in China, University College London en École Normale Supérieure in Parijs.
Tijdens haar doctoraalonderzoek, in de groep van Tobias Donner aan het Universitair Medische Centrum Hamburg-Eppendorf in Duitsland en de Universiteit van Amsterdam, onderzocht ze de interactie tussen keuzegedrag en neurale informatieverwerking, met een focus op het effect van besliszekerheid op sequentiële keuzes.
Als postdoctoraal onderzoeker aan Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in New York bestudeerde ze de neurofysiologie van beslisprocessen aan de hand van extracellulaire neurale metingen in een muismodel. Ze was hierbij ook oprichtend lid van het International Brain Laboratory, een wereldwijd consortium van computationele en systeem neurowetenschappers.
Urai's onderzoek is gericht op de neurale basis van beslisprocessen in mensen en muizen, de interactie tussen leren, keuzegedrag en perceptie, en de neurale basis van cognitieve veroudering.
