TRIXY Center of Expertise
TRIXY is a national Center of Expertise, in which clinical professionals and expert researchers work together to improve knowledge and clinical care for children with X and Y chromosome trisomies - 47, XXY, 47, XXX and 47, XYY. TRIXY is a collaboration of the department of Clinical Child and Adolescent Studies of Leiden University, Leiden University Medical Center, and LUBEC - the outpatient clinic of Leiden University.
The clinic offers multidisciplinary care, involving clinical psychologists, neuropsychologists, occupational therapists, developmental pediatricians, endocrinologists, urologists and physiotherapists. In order to be able to provide optimal care based on up to date scientific knowledge, research plays an important role in TRIXY.
The team of researchers contribute to in-depth knowledge about mechanisms driving developmental risks; primarily in areas of cognitive, emotional and social development, in relation to risk for behavioral problems. This knowledge is crucial in order to be able to identify early markers of risk earlier in development, help vulnerable children with more targeted support, and develop new interventions that match the needs of children with X and Y chromosome trisomies.
