Wilma Wentholt obtained her research master degree in Developmental Psychopathology in Education and Child Studies (2019) at Leiden University. Throughout her master she worked as a research assistant on the YOUth project (Utrecht University) and the KIDS project (Leiden University) and did a research internship under supervision of Nikita Schoemaker, MSc and Prof. dr. Lenneke Alink within the project ‘Positive Parenting in Foster Care’, a randomized controlled trial of a video-feedback parenting intervention (VIPP-FC) in foster care. After graduating Wilma was employed by Leiden University to write a paper on the effectiveness of the intervention on neurobiological parameters.
Currently Wilma is working as a PhD candidate at the RE-PAIR study (NWO Vici-project of Prof. dr. Bernet Elzinga) at the section of Clinical Psychology of Leiden University. This is a large interdisciplinary research project that aims to investigate the bidirectional relations between parent-adolescent interactions and depressive symptomatology in adolescents.
The main research interest of Wilma is how family (dys)functioning relates to child/adolescent (psychological) well-being and developmental outcomes. Within the RE-PAIR study she examines how observed parental warmth, criticism, and autonomy supportive behavior during parent-adolescent interactions relate to (the course of) depressive symptomatology. Furthermore, she will study how the observed behaviors during these interactions relate to the subjective experiences of these interactions, of both parents and adolescents.
