Thijs de Boer is postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Security and Global Affairs. His research focusses on the relationship between transboundary crises and the structure of central government. He has a background in public administration. His PhD research at Leiden University and later Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam examined why European Union agencies engage in voluntary accountability. In particular, he looked at reputational motives as a driver of accountability-seeking behaviour by public agencies.
