Sarah Vandenbroucke, born in Lille (France), holds a bachelor’s degree in law from the Université de Lille 2, an LL.M. in European Law from Leiden Law School (2017), and a joint Master’s in Labor Law and Organisation and Labour Studies from the University of Toulouse 1 Capitole and the Graduate School of Social Sciences of Amsterdam (2018). Her deep interest in human rights, labor rights, organizational sociology, and international governance led her to pursue a PhD at the Business Studies Department of Leiden Law School of Leiden University, where she began her research on March 15th, 2020. During the four years of her PhD, Sarah taught in the European and International Human Rights Advanced Master at Leiden Law School, coordinated the Empirical Legal Studies Lab and chaired the PhD Committee of her Faculty.
Sarah has broadened her expertise as a visiting researcher at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy, for six months in 2023. Her commitment to Business and Human Rights, as well as her passion for social justice and ethics, is reflected in her active involvement with the Netherlands Network for Human Rights Research and L’Observatoire de l’Ethique Publique, a French think tank on public ethics. She continues to be an active academic member and holds coordinating roles in both organizations.
