Short CV
Rosalie van der Vaart obtained her Master’s degree in Health & Clinical Psychology in 2008 at Utrecht University. In 2013 she received her PhD at the University of Twente based on her thesis "Rheumatology 2.0: empowering patients by eHealth", in which development, implementation and evaluation of a health portal for patients with rheumatic diseases were studied, taking into account patients’ needs and skills. Thereafter, she lead a Post-doc research project in which she studied how to combine ehealth with face-to-face therapy in Mental health care. This led to the development of an instrument to tailor blended care on an individual level.
Since 2014 she works at Leiden University, where she conducted Post-doc research on internet cognitive behavior therapy for chronic pain as part of the National MUSS project “Grip op Klachten”. Currently she works as an assistant professor and is involved in a diverse range of eHealth and Population Health Management projects, i.a. in collaboration with LUMC and Campus Den Haag. She recently developed the Digital Health Literacy Instrument which aims to measure digital health skills of patients.
Research
Rosalie van der Vaart’s current research focusses largely on implementation and evaluation of eCoaching for patients with chronic somatic conditions, using internet cognitive behavior therapy (iCBT). In her project she has special attention for the usability and adoption of eHealth among both patients and care providers. As eHealth coordinator she is involved in a broad range of projects regarding digital health care, studying online screening, serious gaming and iCBT to increase coping and health behavior among patients with chronic somatic conditions. In collaboration with Campus Den Haag she works on several projects regarding Population Health Management, in which optimizing health care for risk populations is the central aim.
