Dr. Lieske Huits is an art historian specializing in decorative arts and museum histories, working in the field of nineteenth-century studies. In her PhD dissertation (Cantab., 2023), she examined narratives surrounding style and historicism in the British decorative arts of the nineteenth century, with a particular focus on the role of the periodical press in shaping and disseminating design debates across a variety of publics which included not just art professionals, theorists, and critics, but also manufacturers, workers, and the general public.

She has been employed as a university lecture on design and material cultures at Leiden University since 2023, teaching both in the BA Art History/Art, Media and Society, and in the MA Arts and Culture.
