Obstetrics
Healty ageing starts in utero. Obstetrics developed from birthmechanism to fetal and maternal medicine. More knowledge of fetal development led to continuously improvement of fetal diagnosis and therapy. How amazing that the mother is not rejecting her child, while a transplanted kidney leads to rejection? Pregnancy has great influence on the mother, not only during pregnancy and shortly after birth, but also later in life. Jan van Lith is actively involved in several scientific projects and this is an important topic of the national scientific agenda (NWA).
