Analytical Cytology

Chair: Analytical Cytology. Development and application of advanced microscopical methods and fluorescence technology to unravel the molecular composition of normal and diseased cells in order to develop novel diagnostic methods and therapeutic approaches.

Academic career

Doctoral degree Bochemistry Utrecht Univeristy (1976). PhD in 1983: University Leiden, titel:
'Cytochemical and Cytometric Methods for DNA and RNA analysis (Promotor: P. van Duijn, J.S. Ploem)'.

1987-1992: visiting professor Universiteit Brussel, Bologna, Urbino en Hannover;

1992: appointed as professor of Analytical Cytology in  Leiden. Title inauguration speech: 'Cells under the microscope: from looking at form to measuring molecules'. 

Additional appointments as professor at the Science Faculty Leiden and TU Delft, respectively in 2012 and 2013
