General Practice & PHEG

Hedwig Vos is Professor of General Practice at the LUMC and Head of the Department Public Health and Primary Care (PHEG). She conducts research in primary care and Population Health, with a particular interest in Women's Health and diversity and inclusion. With her chair she aims to contribute, both in terms of research, education and also impact in the region, to the ambitions of the department, namely to contribute to the health of the entire population, to work towards the best prevention and community oriented care of the future and to contribute to the accessibility, inclusion, innovation and sustainability of healthcare. She is a general practitioner in Den Haag (V&V Huisartsen).

Academic carreer

Hedwig Vos received her doctorate on June 26, 2014, for the dissertation Risk factors in women's health in different stages of life. During and after her PhD, she was managerially and politically active. In 2017, she joined the LUMC as head of the Extramural LUMC Academic Network (ELAN), and from the end of 2019 until Nov. 8, 2024, she served as head of LUMC's general practitioner vocational education program.

Her oration is scheduled in 2025.
