Education and Child Studies
The Leiden Institute of Education and Child Studies aims to conduct high-quality research that addresses major social issues. This inspires its BSc, MSc and PhD programmes.
Social issues that are currently being investigated include child abuse, the quality of daycare, children’s reading problems, and the early diagnosis of children with severe mental and physical handicaps. The institute cooperates with other institutes believing that an interdisciplinary approach is fundamental to our understanding.
Most reseachers have a leading role in the teaching programme. The programmes aim to train students to become academic professionals, with advanced research skills and substantial practical research experience.
