Immune cells and proteins that are able to regulate the excessive immune response in atherosclerosis are explored as therapeutic strategies to inhibit the development of atherosclerotic plaques. In this research line, we aim to develop novel therapies to limit atherogenesis, including vaccination strategies and (cellular) immunotherapy. We are currently investigating the therapeutic applicability of specific cells and antibodies, as well as other biologicals that can dampen the inflammatory response in atherosclerosis.
